A New Face in Golf’s Big Leagues: Taylor Pendrith Claims First PGA Tour Victory at CJ Cup Byron Nelson

Aon Swing 5, Next 10 Players Ready for Wells Fargo Championship

Taylor Pendrith had a standout day as he claimed his first PGA Tour victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Following closely behind in second and third place were Ben Kohles and Alex Noren, respectively, with impressive performances at TPC Craig Ranch. Pendrith’s win was more than just a personal milestone; it also secured him spots in the final three signature events of the season, including next week’s Wells Fargo Championship and next month’s Memorial Tournament and Travelers Championship.

In addition to Pendrith, Kohles and Noren also earned their spots at the Wells Fargo Championship through the Aon Swing 5 category. The top five players who earned the most combined points from the Corales Puntacana Championship, Zurich Classic, and Nelson were Kohles (2), Noren (4), Horschel (3), Tway (5), and Ramey (6). Despite missing out on the top five by a narrow margin, Ramey finished in sixth place in the Swing 5 rankings.

In terms of changes from previous signature events, there were only a few minor fluctuations in the Aon Next 10 category. Shane Lowry was the only new addition to the top 10 rankings after winning Zurich with Rory McIlroy. The current top 10 players in this category are: Ludvig Åberg, Matthieu Pavon, Shane Lowry, Stephan Jaeger, Will Zalatoris, Akshay Bhatia, Jake Knapp, Justin Thomas, Christiaan Bezuidhout, and Austin Eckroat.
